Home to several departments within the University of Cincinnati’s College of Arts & Sciences. It is a 185,000sf steel structure classroom building with 24 classrooms, 230 faculty and staff offices, and shared space for interdisciplinary programs designed to meet LEED Silver standards. This project included a 50,000 CY mass soil and rock excavation and haul off for the basement that reached depths over 40′ deep. Multiple methods were utilized for the temporary excavation including OSHA safe cut slopes and temporary earth retention consisting of soldier piles and wood lagging with tie back anchors.
