Safety
We Are Serious About Safety!
It is our policy to provide all of our employees and subcontractors with the safest work environment possible. In pursuit of our safety commitment we have set a goal of “zero job related accidents” on all projects sites. We have also implemented the following policies and practices:
FULL TIME SAFETY DIRECTOR
We have a full-time, highly-qualified, safety director on staff to manage and administer our safety program.
WRITTEN SAFETY & HEALTH PROGRAM
We have a comprehensive written Safety and Health Program for Construction Industry. We require all employees to be trained on the safety policy and to become familiar with its requirements. Each employee must abide by the rules set forth in the program and perform their work in accordance with its standards. We maintain strict enforcement of this policy for our employees’ personal protection, their family’s financial protection, and the protection and safety of others.
DRUG TEST POLICY
All of our project sites are drug-free zones. We strictly enforce a policy of random drug testing for existing employees throughout a year. In addition, all new employees are required to submit to urinalysis drug screen and back ground check prior to employment.
SAFETY TRAINING
All BCS Project Managers, Foreman and field personnel are highly trained in all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies, procedures, and standards, as well as construction safety and health principles. All of our employees are required to complete the OSHA ten-hour course, which serves as a tool to educate employees on the scope and application of the OSHA construction standards with special emphasis on areas that are the most hazardous. All site supervisors also complete OSHA-30 course.
WEEKLY TOOLBOX TALKS
All Forman conduct safety talks at their respective project sites at least once a week. Subcontractors are also invited to attend the meetings in order to make sure the entire construction site is as safe as possible. Toolbox talks include topics such as:
- Learning from any accidents the previous week
- Corrective actions to prevent accidents from reoccurring
- Updates in OSHA policies and much more
